CHRONICLES OF NEANIA
is the work-and-play blog of Edward Gauvin, freelance French translator and founder of Edward Gauvin Translations. Clips, quotes, quips, quirks; outtakes, excerpts, bloopers, updates; peeks, previews, predictions, works-in-progress; road notes, koans, one-shots, orphan paragraphs; greatest hits, happy accidents, timely reminders, hard knocks; etymologies, obscurities, curiosities, memories; ribaldry, misery, mesmery, revelry—these are the fauna of this particular savannah. Happy hunting!
The TRANSLATIONS page (click above!) is a special reserve listing and linking to past publications and selected works by members of Edward Gauvin Translations. Professionals, prospective employers, and the generally curious are welcome!
Where is Neania? Far, yet near: you could say it’s le pays de ma jeunesse. It’s coined from the actual Greek-rooted adjective neanic: of, like or pertaining to the adolescent period; young. Applied scientifically to the pupal stages of certain insects.
The Header is my clumsy crop of an original panel by G.B. Tran—designer, illustrator, and comics artist extraordinaire, Xeric-award winning creator of Content (the wait for Issue 3 starts now!)—from our first collaboration, a short comic story, “We Are Not Alone”, now available in the Indie Spinner Rack anthology called AWESOME! Packed with comic talent of every indie frequency, this is the anthology to tune into. Buy now online, or pester your local comic store! All proceeds will go to a student scholarship fund at the Center for Cartoon Studies in Vermont. Premiered at the Small Press Expo 2007.
